The Manitoba Alternative Food Research Alliance aims to bring people together from across urban, rural, and northern Manitoba to create food justice in their communities. Our logo represents the three regions – buildings for urban Manitoba, a ploughed field for rural Manitoba, a tipi to represent Indigenous communities, and a tree depicting northern Manitoba. People are also represented through the windows on the buildings and the presence of a tipi. Furthermore, our food systems can be seen in the ploughed field and the wild forest – representing both agriculture and wild harvests.
This logo is the result of extensive consultations with our partners and members. We believe that it reflects a vision of a diverse Manitoba; a province with unique regional needs, but also bound together as part of our food system.
