Dr. Masuda is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environment and Geography at the University of Manitoba as well as the Director of the Centre for Environmental Health Equity. He grew up in the suburbs of Edmonton where his hunger for environmental justice was first cultivated. He went on to carry out a Master’s of Science focused on health and sustainable transportation and a PhD regarding community participation in oil and gas sector environmental governance. His current research interests center on urban environmental health equity assessment, community-based participatory research, human rights, knowledge translation, homelessness and housing, and environmental determinants of First Nations health. Dr. Masuda is co-founding organizer of the Canadian Network on Environment, Health and Social Equity, Co-Deputy Director of the Research Interest Group on Environmental Health Justice in the City and recent recipient of the CIHR New Investigator Award in Knowledge Translation. Jeff is an avid whitewater paddler and lives with his family in Winnipeg.
