Agnes is pursuing a doctoral degree with the Department of Native Studies at the University of Manitoba. She earned a B.A. in Cultural Studies and in Environment from McGill University and an M.A in Native Studies also from the University of Manitoba. Her research interests include issues in colonization, neo-colonialism, imperialism and how these relate to indigineity, self-determination, land rights and the management of natural resources. Her MAFRA funded doctoral research with Poplar River First Nation examines food related sustainable community economic development and the establishment of a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Aboriginal territories.
