Fresh from the Field

The purpose of this multi-year project is to reach out to immigrants and First Nations groups in Winnipeg in particular, as well as to lower-income individuals and families with appropriate educational programming related to organic food and farming.  In phase one (this project) we will consult with newcomers and First Nations groups to determine their educational and training needs.  In phase two, we will develop culturally appropriate programming and resources to:  1) increase understanding of the nutritional, environmental, and other benefits of local organic foods and how to source these foods locally and 2) help aspiring and experienced farmers develpo or transfer their farming skills.  In addition, we will facilitate linkages with local farmers, processors, and distributors and assist individuals, schools, community centres, and other facilities to procure organic/sustainably grown foods.
