Urban Eatin’ Community Gardening Workshop Series
We plan to provide a series of eight workshops in the Gilbert Park Boys and Girls Club gardens, each with a designated theme relevant to different gardening activities at each point in the gardening season. Through these interactive workshops, we hope to help the community learn about the steps and skills necessary to nurture a garden in their neighbourhood. Participants will learn about hte needs of plants as well as how to prepare, nurture, and harvest an array of fruits, vegetables, and greens. The intended participants of these workshops are Gilbert Park residents of all ages who may have never gardened before.
By offering community members the opportunity to explore the joys of gardening and food production at their own pace, we intend to establish a foundation from which we can explore other projects that fit into our public education mandate. These could include establishing school yard gardens or composting facilities.
